“My practice engages the vulnerability and impermanence of subjects in landscape. Often presenting video performances of unresolved acts. In my process I aim for hyper-locality and immediacy, sourcing the people and histories surrounding my home in Puerto Rico.

This work examines the alteration of the local landscape and its barriers, reflecting on acts of transfer and movement.

The first piece ‘La última salida de Yin’ frames the quick-fixing of a fence as a mundane act that subtly hints at a broader narrative through its title, which translates to Yin’s Last Outing.

The second piece, ‘Yin Aislado’ presents a dog running from one end of the frame to the other.

Created while I was migrating from Puerto Rico to the United States, I examined the tensions and complicity I was submitting myself to. To mimic the sentiment, I created textural sounds to follow the shadows being casted over the landscape in the video. Once again, reinforcing the movement within both sides of the fence being fixed.”
